Daily Door Prizes
Special thanks to Robert and Olivia Cashner for donating the door prizes for the Map Fair of the West.
The door prizes are original publications from the 1850s. They are not modern reproductions.
One door prize will be given on Saturday, and a second on Sunday. You do not have to be present to win, but you must enter the drawing and provide contact information. One entry per person for each paid admission.
The information will only be used to contact the winners and to announce future fairs in Denver. In no case will the contact information be sold.

Amerique Septentrionale by Levasseur ca. 1850

A very decorative map with the United States extending into present day Canada, Russia in control of Alaska and Mexico's northern border according to the Treaty of 1810. (12 x 17 inches) Texas is prominently marked and border is in strong blue out-line colour. Surrounded by beautifully engraved scenes of North and Central America including local animals, a ship stranded in the polar sea, and a Mayan Temple.

Engraved by Laguillermie, the outer decorations are the work of Raimond Bonheur.

Nordamerika by Brockhaus ca. 1863

This is a rare decorative map of North America. Surrounding the map (7.5 x 7 inches), are twelve American vignettes, including polar bears, Santo Domingo, Eskimos, bison, raccoon, grizzly bear and beaver, an Indian meeting, harvesting sugar cane, picking cotton, a scene of the Red River, a swamp scene with an alligator, and an interesting scene of an eagle attacking a group of turkeys. The map itself is a sharp topographical presentation of the continent.
